Kim Bum-seok will play in the Futures All-Star Game


LG Twins catching prospect Kim Bum-seok will play in the Futures All-Star Game for the second consecutive year.

The KBO announced the roster for the 2024 KBO Futures All-Star Game on July 5 at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Monday.
The Futures All-Star Game, which will be held the day before the KBO All-Star Game (July 6), will feature 48 players, 24 representing the Northern League All-Stars (Hanwha, Doosan, LG, SSG, and Goyang) and 24 representing the Southern League All-Stars (Sangsung, Lotte, Kia, KT, NC, and Samsung).

Kim Bum-seok, who returned home from spring training in the U.S. in mid-February with an adductor injury, started the season with the second team and was promoted to the first team in mid-April. He was off the first team roster for 10 days in early June, but returned to the first team on June 16 and has been playing ever since. He has 67 days of registered time in the first team and 30 days in the second team.

Kim Bum-seok started at first base three times against Samsung on July 27 at Jamsil Stadium and went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. In 40 games with the first team, Kim is batting 2-for-8 (33-for-115) with five home runs, 22 RBIs, 12 runs scored and a .798 OPS.

He has played backup catcher, first base, and designated hitter.

LG will be represented at the Futures All-Star by Kim Bum-seok and outfielder Ham Chang-gun, who are on the first team roster. Ham Chang-gun is playing on the first team roster for the first time since his debut on Nov. 21 after batting 3-for-6 in the second team.

The Futures All-Star Game will also feature a new Best Performance Award. The players’ unique costumes and performances will make the game more colorful and exciting. The winner of the Best Performance Award will receive a cash prize of KRW 1 million and a prize from Mediheal, the title sponsor of the Futures League.
