NC swept SSG to get the first laugh in the three-game series. The bats exploded, and it was snow baseball. Manager Kang Myung-hwa had good things to say about it.
NC won 19-5 against SSG in the 2024 KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Wednesday, led by a batting lineup that pounded out 14 hits and 11 wild pitches.
They scored five runs in the third inning off SSG starter Kim Kwang-hyun. They added one more run in the fourth and fifth innings, and a whopping 10 runs in the top of the sixth. They set a new record for consecutive pushes (5) and a new record for most pitches in an inning (8). There was no reason not to win.
The day before, they played LG at home in overtime. Afterward, they traveled to Incheon. They arrived at around 4 a.m. on the 3rd and played without some of their starters, including Park Min-woo and Park Gun-woo, but still won.
Kim Si-hoon gave up three runs on seven hits, two walks, and one strikeout in 4.2 innings. He had a few close calls, including getting hit in the leg by a pitch. It was unfortunate that he faltered a bit in the fifth inning.
Second pitcher Kim Jae-yeol earned the win with 1.1 innings of no-hit ball, one walk and two strikeouts. The win was his first since joining the NC. It took him 680 days since June 23, 2022, to get a win.
At the plate, Son went 3-for-6 with a triple and a home run. It was a new career-high for RBIs in a single game. Kim Han-byul was also good with three hits and one RBI.
Kim Hyung-joon homered and had one hit and two RBIs, while Lee Jae-hwan also had two hits and two RBIs. Choi Jung-won 토토사이트 and Seo Ho-chul each had one hit and one RBI.
“We were able to win the game with a big inning in the sixth inning and Kim Jae-yeol pitched well in the clutch,” said manager Kang Myung-hwon after the game.
“I would like to thank the fans for their support in the chilly weather and we will prepare well for tomorrow’s game,” he added.
