FC Seoul of the K-League 1 professional soccer team announced on the 7th that it had recruited Kang Sang-woo (30), a multi-player from the national team.

Kang Sang-woo made his professional debut with Pohang Steelers in K League 1 in 2014 and played for Sangju Sangmu and Beijing Guoan in China.

In the K-League, he recorded 20 points and 25 assists in 191 games in total, received the K-League 1 Most Assists Award in the 2020 season, and was named in the K-League 1 Best 11 for two consecutive years in 2020-2021.

He transferred to Beijing Guoan in April 2022 and returned to the K-League after two years, scoring 12 goals in 57 games in the Chinese Super League.

Seoul explained, “Kang Sang-woo is a multi-resource who can play both defense positions and has offensive ability, and is versatile enough to play as a midfielder for his former team, Beijing Guoan.”

He added, “Kang Sang-woo’s wide range of activity and speed are considered to be his strengths, and he also has sophisticated crossing ability, so he is expected to add to the destructive power of the side.”

Kang Sang-woo met again with Seoul coach Kim Ki-dong, whom he had worked with during his time in Pohang, and continued their relationship.

He said, “It is an honor to join Seoul, the largest club in the K-League. I have many good memories with coach Kim Ki-dong, so as a multi-player, I want to be a great help in helping the coach achieve his new goal.” He added, “Seoul has to compete for the championship. “Because we are a team, we will work hard to achieve results that satisfy our fans.”

Seoul, which lost 0-2 in the first game of the 2024 season against Gwangju FC on the 2nd, will play its home opener against Incheon United at 4 p.m. on the 10th at Seoul World Cup Stadium. 고스톱
