 The Korea Sports Council has begun work on building a new skating rink to replace Taereung International Skating Rink, the ‘cradle’ of Korean ice skating.The Sports Association announced on the 13th that it will hold a site selection contest with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to build a 400m-sized training complex to replace the international skating rink in the Taereung Athletes’ Village.Korea has emerged as a global ice skating powerhouse, fueled by the sweat shed by athletes at the Taereung International Skating Rink.

The reason why the Taereung International Skating Rink disappeared is because the Taereung Athletes’ Village was destined to be demolished due to the registration of the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty as a World Cultural Heritage.While the Jincheon Athletes’ Village in North Chungcheong Province inherited most of the functions of the Taereung Athletes’ Village, the Sports Council and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to build a new training complex to replace the Taereung International Skating Rink, and began the project in earnest through this public offering process.The site contest will be held for basic local governments 슬롯게이밍 from this day until February 8th of next year.
