Shinhan Bank wins first game of the season after eight games in women’s basketball


Women’s professional basketball’s Incheon Shinhan Bank has ended a long losing streak.

Led by 34 points from ace Kim Sonia, Shinhan defeated Busan BNK 66-57 in the regular season finale of the Woori Bank Woori WON 2023-2024 Women’s Professional Basketball League at Incheon Dowon Gymnasium on Feb. 2.

Shinhan Bank, which had lost seven straight games, picked up its first win in eight games but remained in the bottom six.

BNK is fourth with a 3-5 record.

Shinhan held a slim 38-33 lead at halftime before holding BNK to seven points in the third quarter and scoring 14 points to pull away.

In the fourth quarter, Lee Da-yeon’s three-pointer and Kim Sonia’s dunk split the rim. Down by nine points with 3:22 to go, Lee Kyung-eun (5 points, 10 assists) made a layup as the clock ran out to make it 62-51.

Lee then connected on a pass that led to a Kim Sonia layup off a turnover, ending BNK’s hopes of a comeback.

Trailing 54-66 with just over a minute left in regulation, BNK brought its starters to the bench and conceded defeat.

BNK’s Han Um-ji finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds and Jin-an finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, but they were unable to stop Kim Sonia’s dominance. 토토사이트
