Kim Ha-Yoon, Bae Jae-Sung finish second at Luge Youth Continental Cup in Pyeongchang, South Korea


Rising luge stars Kim Ha-yoon (Sariuljung) and Bae Jae-sung (Sangji Kwanryong-go) finished second at the Youth Intercontinental Cup in South Korea.

Kim and Bae finished second in the men’s two-person event at the Youth Intercontinental Cup at the Pyeongchang Sliding Center on Sunday with a time of 1:36.602.

In a two-team field, Ukraine’s Panchuk Maksym and Muts Andri won the event with a time of 1:35.471, faster than Kim and Bae.

Kim and Bae are up-and-comers who are expected to succeed Park Jin-yong (Gyeonggi-do) and Choi Joong-myung (Gangwon-do), who have been a mainstay of Korean luge.

In the men’s single-seater, Kim Bo-geun (Sangji Kwanryonggo) finished third with a time of 1:34.811.

Korean athletes swept the top three spots in the women’s single sculls.

Kim So-yoon (Shinmyung Girls’ High School), the older sister of Kim Ha-yoon, took first place, followed by Shin Yubin (Sangji Gwanryong High School) and Park Ji-ye (Buwon Girls’ Middle School).

The Korean Luge Federation will use the results of the Youth Intercontinental Cup to select athletes for the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games.

At the accompanying Asian Championships, the team of Park Jin-yong and Choi Joong-myung won the men’s double with a time of 1:33.385.

Kim Ha-yoon and Bae Jae-sung finished second, 3.998 seconds slower at 1:37.383.

Kim Bo-geun and Yu Ji-hoon (Gochang Bukgo) finished second and third in the men’s single, while Jeong Hye-sun (Gangwon Provincial Office), Kim So-yoon and Oh Jung-im (Korea Gymnastics University) finished first through third in the women’s single. 파워볼
