Men’s volleyball OK Financial Group halts Samsung Fire’s bid for sixth straight win


Men’s professional volleyball’s OK Financial Group stopped Samsung Fire’s bid for a sixth consecutive victory in nine years.

OK Financial Group defeated Samsung Fire, who were on a five-game winning streak, with a set score of 3-1 (26-28 26-24 25-19 25-23) in their Dodram 2023-2024 V League home match at Sangryoksu Gymnasium in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, on Tuesday.

OK Financial Group, which improved to 5-2 on the season, moved from fourth to third place.

Samsung Fire, which attempted to win six straight matches for the first time in nine years from Jan. 8-Feb. 4, 2014, ended its winning streak against OK Financial Group’s blocking barrier.

OK Financial Group out-blocked Samsung Fire 16-5 to pull off the upset.

Jin Sang-heon and Mongolian middle blocker Bayar Saihan had four blocks apiece, Song Hee-chae had three, and Shin Shin-jin and setter Kwak Myung-woo had two.

Samsung Fire committed 30 unforced errors, 12 more than OK Financial Group.

Samsung Fire’s main gun Yosvani Hernandez (real name Yosvani) scored 39 points, but also committed 12 unforced errors, which contributed to the loss.

In the women’s match at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, last-place Pepper Savings Bank snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-2 (17-25 26-24 24-26 25-21 15-10) victory over GS Caltex.

Yasmin Bedardt (real name Yasmin) led the way with a whopping 45 points.

Park Jung-ah added 14 points.

With the evenly distributed scoring, Pepper Savings Bank outgunned GS Caltex by shooting 47.01 percent from the field, about 8 percentage points higher than GS Caltex. 먹튀검증
