‘Oh Hyun-gyu substitute’ Celtic beat Livingston 3-0 despite 10 men

Scottish professional soccer’s Celtic continued its unbeaten run in the league as Oh Hyun-gyu came on as a substitute.

Celtic defeated Livingston 3-0 away from home in the sixth round of the 2023-2024 Scottish Premiership at the Tony Macaroni Arena in Livingston, Scotland, on Wednesday (Sept. 23).

South Korean striker Oh Hyun-gyu came on for Japanese player Furuhashi Kyogo in the 26th minute and played until the end of the match.

Oh actively pressured the opposing defense from the front line and created scoring chances in the gaps.

As soon as he entered the game, he received the ball near the goal line, but the goalkeeper overlapped him and the chance was denied.

In the 32nd minute, he unleashed a strong left-footed shot from the right penalty area that went over the bar.

Footmob, a site specializing in soccer statistics, gave Oh a rating of 6.0.

Yang Hyun-joon was named to the substitutes’ bench, while Kwon Hyuk-kyu did not make the starting lineup.

Celtic took the lead in the 11th minute when Leo Hatate scored from the penalty spot.

Hatate took his earned penalty kick low, and the ball narrowly missed the keeper and rattled the net between his armpits.

Celtic were outnumbered in the 28th minute when goalkeeper Joe Hart was sent off for a direct challenge.

As he rushed out of the penalty box to stop Livingston midfielder Mohamed Sangare, who had broken the defensive line and was charging in, Hart raised his foot high and the two collided violently, with Sangare being awarded possession of the ball as he touched it first, resulting in a red card for Hart.

Despite being down to 10 men, Celtic continued to press Livingston and in the third minute of stoppage time they were rewarded with a second goal.

Furuhashi crossed into the box from the right flank and Matt O’Reilly slotted home with his left foot after the ball hadn’t quite reached Daizen Maeda’s foot.

Just before the end of the game, Celtic added a wedge goal when Maeda curled a left-footed shot from near the penalty arc into the top corner of the net.

Celtic (5 wins, 1 draw) stayed on top of the league with 16 points. 안전놀이터
