‘No. 6 ranked’ sweeps series in Sutton’s absence…

The Lotte Giants have completed a series sweep.

The Giants defeated the SSG Landers 15-4 in the regular season finale of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League on Sunday at Sajik Stadium in Busan. With the series sweep, Lotte won its fourth straight game to improve to 50-51 on the season with a .495 winning percentage and is on the verge of returning to the five-win club. With Doosan’s loss, Kia moved into fifth place and Lotte moved into sixth.

Lotte had a bullpen day, but managed to keep the SSG bats in check. Shim Jae-min pitched three innings of two-run ball and Han Hyun-hee pitched two scoreless innings to fulfill the role of a 1+1 starter. While Jung’s presence shined throughout the series, it was the returning catcher Yoo Kang-nam who led the way with a 3-hit, 2-RBI, 1-strikeout performance. Jeon Jun-woo continued his four-hit performance, while Yoon Dong-hee also had three doubles. The team scored nine runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete the sweep. The team kept the momentum going even after Sutton left the game due to dizziness.

After the game, acting head coach Lee Jong-woon said, “Both the starters and the bullpen pitched well to not give up any runs, especially Koo Seung-min, who stepped up in a difficult situation and pitched to protect the team, which led to the win.”

“In terms of batting, all the hitters were focused and took their swings, which led to a lot of runs. I think it means a lot that our veteran Jeon Jun-woo continues to show his good form at the plate, which sends a message to the rest of the team.”

“Our coach was absent today because he was not feeling well, and we hope that this victory will be a great gift for him to recover his health.” 토토사이트
