Yang Hyun-joon→Kwon Hyuk-kyu sign for Celtic, Rodgers


Celtic FC has announced the signing of two South Korean players within four hours of each other.

After announcing the signing of former Gangwon striker Yang Hyun-joon at 7 p.m. ET on April 24, Celtic announced the signing of former Busan midfielder Kwon Hyuk-gyu at 11 p.m. ET. Celtic paid transfer fees of €2.5 million (approximately $3.5 billion) and €1 million (approximately $1.4 billion) for the two players, totaling €3.5 million (approximately $4.9 billion). Both players have signed five-year contracts.

“I am delighted to announce the signing of Kwon Hyuk-kyu on the same day that we announced the signing of Yang Hyun-joon,” said Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers of the South Korean duo’s arrival. “We look forward to welcoming them to the squad and the role they will play in helping us to deliver another successful season.”

Rodgers, who has been in charge of Celtic this season, said of Yang: “I’m sure he will be a great player. We’ve watched him closely and the fact that he won the Young Player of the Year award in South Korea 먹튀검증 shows his quality. I think he will enhance our attacking options, including his compatriot Oh Hyun-gyu, and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

As for Kwon Hyuk-kyu, he emphasized that he is “a player the club has been watching for a long time.”

According to local media, the two players will not be joining Celtic on the squad’s pre-season tour of Japan due to their late arrival. Oh is currently on tour in Japan, playing in a pre-season friendly.
