Arsenal target ‘tied for league goals with SON’ comes with a price tag

Bournemouth have set a transfer fee for Dominic Solanke.

“Bournemouth have set a hefty price tag for Arsenal transfer target Solanke. A move is possible this winter, but it will require an astronomical transfer fee.”

Solanke was once touted as a striker to lead Liverpool. However, his potential never quite exploded. He spent the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons with the Reds, but failed to make an impact. He eventually moved to Bournemouth ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Solanke has improved steadily and is in great form this season. He has 13 goals and one assist in 22 games. His 12 goals in the league have surpassed his previous record for goals in a single season in the English Premier League (PL).

He completed a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest in the 18th round of the PL, scoring six minutes into the second half, 13 minutes into the second half, and four minutes into stoppage time. Solanke is tied for third on the club’s goalscoring list with Son Heung-min.

His good form has led to him being linked with big clubs in the winter transfer window. The most likely destination is Arsenal. The Gunners don’t have a striker to spark their offense this season. Gabriel Jesus is nursing a nagging injury, and Eddie Nketiah has been a bit of a disappointment.

Arsenal originally targeted Brentford’s Ivan Toney. Tony scored a whopping 20 goals in the PL last season. He was third in league scoring behind Elling Holland and Harry Kane.

But the transfer fee was too high. Brentford want to get as much money as possible for their ace. Director Lee Dykes said: “We want a significant bid. The time will come for Tony to move on. But he’s a talented player and we’ll have to pay a significant transfer fee,” said director Lee Dykes, openly asking for big money.

Manager Thomas Frank added: “He is a Brentford player. Transfer offers are not for me. If I could recommend one, it would have to be an unbelievable price. He will stay here.” According to local media, Brentford want more than £160 million for Toni.

Solanke is cheaper than Toni. According to YardBackers, Bournemouth are looking for $60 million ($789 million). Arsenal can add a striker in the winter transfer window for less money.

If Solanke does leave, his former club Liverpool will have a smile on their face. When the Reds sold him to Bournemouth, they reportedly inserted a clause that gave them 20% of any future transfer fees.
