Park Ji-hyun explodes for 21 points, leads Tokomanawa to second straight win


Park Ji-hyun continues to impress in her second game of the AWBC.

Tokomanawa Queens (New Zealand) forward Park Jihyun Park had 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal in the Asia Pacific Women’s Basketball Challenge (AWBC) against Beijing Great Warriors on Monday at the NBA Academy School in Haikou, Hainan Province, China.

Tokomanawa, led by Park Ji-hyun and Margaret Brown (24 points, 11 rebounds), 토토 defeated Beijing 73-58 for their second straight win in the tournament.

In addition to Park, Tokomanawa has four foreign players in Brown (Australia), Florencia Chagas (Argentina) and Tamari Kay (USA). On the day, Park, Brown, and Chagas (16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists) combined for 61 points in the win over Beijing. After scoring 15 points the previous day, Park scored 21 points in his second game with the team, showing promise as the main scorer. He was also named Player of the Game by the Real League.

After leading 40-34 at halftime, Tokomanawa stretched its lead to 58-44 in the third quarter thanks to steady scoring from the perimeter and a three-pointer from Chagas. Beijing was unable to take advantage of the physical Tokomanawa as they lost the rebounding battle 31-55.

Tokomanawa, which swept Beijing, will face Guangdong Newcentry, which has two identical wins, for first place in the tournament on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Seodaemun-gu-gu took the day off to rest and prepare for their match against Beijing on the 30th.
