Egyptian fencer Hanyoung Jeon is 7 months pregnant after fencing fight


The Egyptian fencer who defeated women’s sabre national champion Jeon Ha-young (22) in the round of 16 at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was reportedly seven months pregnant.

Egyptian fencer Nada Hafez, 26, took to social media on Tuesday to share a post titled “7-month pregnant Olympian,” in which she wrote, “It may have looked like there were two athletes on the field, but there were actually three: me, my opponent, and my little baby, who hasn’t even been born yet.”

“Me and my baby went through a tough process, physically and mentally,” he said, ”I had to balance life and athletics, and I had to fight a lot of things. “I had to balance life and athletics, and I had to fight a lot of things, but the Olympics was a stage that was worth it,” he said.

“I was able to come this far because of the trust of my husband and family,” she added.

Hafez, who hails from Cairo, Egypt, was eliminated in the women’s sabre round of 16 with Jeon Ha-Young, 7-15.
